The Innova Group
commissioned the
conversion and extension of an existing 2-storey residential building
into a 3-storey apartment block at the front of the site, with the
addition of a new 2-storey apartment building at the rear. With a total
floor area of approximately 480 ft2, both buildings utilised
load-bearing masonry walls with proprietary timber floors and
proprietary metal stud partitioning. The new building was designed with
a few trussed raftered roof, while in the original structure,
traditional roof timbers were used as part of the new loft conversion to
the existing building.
PRO Structures were able to
justify and sanction the use of a large part of the existing roof and
ceiling timber elements for use within the new scheme, which reduced the
client’s build costs.
